This was more like a playdate than a photo shoot.  The most fun playdate EVER!  There were imaginary baby dragons, several rounds of "Doggy, Doggy, Where's Your Bone?" and some pretty intense hide and seek.  Oh, and I took a few pictures, too.

Then she changed into the coolest shirt I have ever seen.  I remember seeing this Tootsie Pop commercial on television when it was first run, back in the *cough cough* 1970s.

Senior Season is Starting! {Senior Portrait Photography | Twin Cities, Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

I'm so excited for my upcoming seniors this year!  I've been scouting out some fabulous and interesting new locations, and I've also got some gorgeous new backdrops for the studio.  You're not the only ones doing your homework - I am, too.  From lighting to posing, to compositions to gorgeous products and digital offerings... I'm so ready for you, class of 2015 (and yep - a few of you remaining 2014 grads, too)!  

I love shooting senior sessions. I believe that your senior photo shoot should be very special, like you!  Not simply a time to feel like a fashion model or a rockstar, but to go deeper than that, and to get to the heart of what is wonderful and beautiful about you as a person. 

I like to pose seniors naturally and with age-appropriateness, and I draw out real, meaningful expressions.  I tend to attract artistic seniors: musicians, painters, dancers, poets, engineers, mathematicians, nature lovers... and I always encourage my seniors to tie their talents and interests into their photo shoots, whenever possible.  

I know there are lots and lots of senior photographers in the Twin Cities area, and so I am always very grateful and humbled when seniors choose me for their portraits.  When you hire me, you have my heartfelt promise that I will do my very best for you.  My photographs are known for their depth, richness, artistry, and clarity.  I am extremely detail-oriented and I've worked very hard to be able to achieve technical excellence and authentic connection in my work.  Equally at home in the studio or on-location, I love to use light and color to tell the story of YOU.   I am known as a versatile photographer who is comfortable in many styles, and together we will come up with an artistic vision that matches you perfectly.

Senior sessions are a lot of fun - we’ll laugh (hard), I’ll fuss over you and bring out your best.  You can expect the highest-quality images from me, and you can also expect that when we work together I will take good care of you, too.  I love getting to know you all as we work together.

My Birthday Boy {Child and Family Photography | Twin Cities, Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

My oldest has a birthday in the middle of the worst month of the year here in the Twin Cities. Boy, did that work out perfectly. Celebrating his birthday is the one truly wonderful thing about February in Minnesota. Here are a few pictures from his birthday photo session. For the record, he does smile and laugh, a LOT, but... not as much when the camera is pointed at him. And actually, I think these capture his essence perfectly: thoughtful, sweet, straightforward, honest, kind and gentle. I'm such a lucky mama.
