Singin' in the Rain. {Family Photography | Twin Cities, Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

I have had the worst luck with weather this season.  But I've had the BEST luck with wonderful, beautiful, fun families this season!

Back in June, this family had scheduled their family portraits with me.  Several rainouts and reschedules later, it was now October.  We made our plans and came up with a vision I was SO excited about.  The date of their session came.  We met at my photography studio in Burnsville, Minnesota and had a quick consultation and started to head out the front door.

It started raining.

I suppressed a mild panic attack and stood there for a moment staring at the water falling from the sky.  I was willing to go for it but asking one's clients, who are dressed to the nines, to pose in the rain and cold is a but much, I know.  Then this lovely mother said brightly, "Let's just go out anyway."

So we did.  And it was fabulous.  I knew they would be.  It was cold and cloudy but they were as warm and delightful as people can be.  This little boy was so full of fun and sweetness I can honestly tell you that nobody in his company could possibly notice what kind of weather was happening.  In the end, a little rain didn't matter in the least.

Anyway - pictures.  They wanted a vintage feel, and when she described their first set of outfits we decided to do an urban setting - which ended up being necessary because it was a great way to keep them covered and out of the rain!
After a little singing in the rain we headed back to my studio and did the second half of the session in the field out back, which was filled with the most perfect colors.

Many, many thanks to this family for sticking it out, enduring the cold and for their wonderful vision for their session, not to mention the fun and great conversation!

Sweetness. {Family and headshot photographer | Twin Cities, Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

The mother in this family is a very talented and busy photographer here in the Twin Cities.  I had the gigantic honor of doing both her headshot and family pictures for her for her website.  I love headshot sessions and family sessions, so doing both in one was really fun for me.  Not to mention the fact that her family is as beautiful, sweet and adorable as it gets!  I absolutely love what she chose for them to wear.

Believe it or not, just a few minutes before we stepped outside to do these family photos, it started raining!  We'd already been rained out once this fall, so this was not what we'd hoped for.  Luckily, we decided to wait it out and after a short rain, the sun came out and it was beautiful out back.  It's been the strangest fall that way!

Bridget. {Senior Photographer | Burnsville, Twin Cities, Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

This was such a fun, lovely evening.  Bridget is such a wonderful, beautiful person, and a talented artist, to boot (scroll down for a sample of some of her fantastic work)!  I loved her quiet elegance.  I also loved her patience with me as I went completely nuts and shot photo after photo after photo of her (have I mentioned that I love variety?  And senior sessions?).

We used my photography studio in Burnsville, MN as a home base for our session and we had a gorgeous night for it.   The sunset over the field was breathtaking and created the perfect amount of drama for this artistic beauty.

Izzy. {Senior Photographer | Twin Cities, Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

What a great night.  It was cloudy, drizzly, a little cold, and dreary out.  But still - a really wonderful evening.

This beautiful senior is adventurous and talented.  She didn't let a few clouds ruin our night - she was up for anything.  And that is what made it so great.  We had such a good time at and around the studio.

The dramatic light outside was so amazing, and so perfect for this high school senior portrait session - she is an accomplished artist and simply gorgeous!

A Beautiful First Birthday {Baby, Child and Family Photography | Burnsville, Twin Cities, MN}

This beautiful little girl came in for pictures right on her first birthday.  She brought her whole family with her, and we had such a nice time.  It was a very cloudy and rainy day but the rain stopped for a few hours and we were able to step outside for some family pictures.  I honestly think that cloudy is my new favorite lighting condition.  It was so dramatic, yet soft and dreamy outside, and I love how it looks - it matches them perfectly.  A most wonderful, sweet family.

Another Beautiful Fall Family {Minneapolis St. Paul, MN | Child and Family Photography}

I love two-year-olds.  This one was so adorably funny and sweet.  She had some new boots and she delighted in showing them to me (when her parents would have preferred that she sat with them for some pictures, I guess, but... it all worked out.  It always does).

We had a gorgeous fall night, and I love the color scheme we chose for their fall family photos, especially at this location.  Such a beautiful, wonderful family, and it was great to see them again.
