My guys in fall. {Minneapolis St. Paul, MN | Child and Family Photography}

I had a very small window of opportunity and I decided to take my boys out for some fall pictures.  I am SO glad I did.  Not because I got perfect shots (my own kids are my toughest customers by far), but because we had a nice time and because I am so happy that I got photographs of them as they really are, to me - my boys as I see them every day (only dressed a little nicer, and fighting a little bit less).

The first part of our session took place during a lovely evening, when the forecast called for a zero percent chance of rain.  Imagine my surprise when, fifteen minutes in, it started pouring out!  So I decided to go for Part Two a few nights later.

Here they are: the Dreamer and the Clown.  My sweet guys.

Sweet and Simple. {Family Photography | Burnsville, Twin Cities, MN}

I just love this beautiful family.  I was so happy to get to see them again this year.  And I love toddlers.  Toddlers are just so... real.  So funny, and sweet, and honest.  And cute, no matter what they are doing.  This little sweetie was such a doll (again!) - it's so fun to see her growing up.  She is so adorable!

It's pretty much fall, now.  And I love fall, too.  This time, for their family portraits, we decided to keep it simple and sweet.  And simple and sweet is my favorite.  They came to my studio and we frolicked in the field out back.  The outfits she chose were just so perfect!

Nature Girl. {Child and Family Photography | Burnsville, Minneapolis St. Paul, Minnesota}

This was such a pretty night.  I absolutely love how the out-of-doors looks in early September.  There is still some green on the trees, and flowers are still in bloom, but the grasses are giving way to gold, and there are hints of browns and reds sprinkled around.

And what could be more perfect on such a night than to photograph a beautiful, nature-loving girl and her equally beautiful, nature-loving mama?  We had so much fun together in and around the studio.  And get a load of her eyes (that's natural, people)!

Here is a sampling from our portrait session.  I had a hard time narrowing it down.  Again.  (I should just stop writing that in each blog post, shouldn't I?  OK, from now on, just expect a great big pile of pictures each time.)

Miranda. {High School Senior Portrait Photographer | Burnsville, Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN}

I am so incredibly lucky - time after time, the neatest, nicest people find me and let me photograph them.  I am constantly delighted by the kindred spirits I come across in my job.  This beautiful senior girl and her family were no exception.  My kind of people.

It's not a secret that I love photographing musicians.  I was so excited to find out that she would be bringing her clarinet to her session.  And not only is she an accomplished clarinetist, she's the captain of the swim team.  Athletic AND musical.  And lovely, inside and out.  We had such fun together.  I love that she brought her whole family - senior portraits are an important, special thing!

We met at my studio in Burnsville, Minnesota and had a ball trying to see just how much variety we could cram into one evening.  I think we did pretty well on that score.  ("Score!"  It's a music pun, for you music geeks out there.  OK, you ONE music geek out there... and that one music geek would be me...)

This is going to be a big share.  I loved every minute of this session!

We ventured out into the neighborhood right near the studio, and found some fun little spots:
After we finished the urban portion of our session, we spent some time in the field out behind my studio.  It was such a swelteringly hot beautiful evening out, and the light was so pretty.
We did a few shots with her sister (beauty runs in the family, as you can see):
The colors out in the field were just amazing, and I love this series we got with her clarinet, just before sunset:

Light and Love. {Family Photographer | Minneapolis, Minnesota}

What a beautiful evening this was.  Beautiful light, and family love - the perfect combination.  We took a wonderful walk together through the woods and over Minnehaha Creek, a really special spot for this family.

We started out at home.  Brother and sister posed for me on their special fuzzy rug.

Then... out into the sunshine.
Over the creek.
Snuggles in the meadow.
A lovely glow by a very special footbridge.
And then it was time to head back home again.  Good night!
