Classical Beauty. {Portrait Photography | Twin Cities, MN}

Once again I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the classical composer, Dr. Kirsten Broberg.  Her music has been described in reviews as "stunning and picturesque."  Clearly her music is an extension of the composer herself!

We went beyond the concept of traditional musician headshots, and did a bit of everything during her portrait session.  We also had sun, we had rain, and we had dramatic indoor light.  It was an evening of adventure.  And here are the results - I love what we were able to do in just one session!  (I love her adorable dogs, too!  They are so incredibly cute and sweet.)

Headshots {Headshot Portrait Photographer | Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

Another headshot session!  Another beautiful and elegant classical musician!  Today I am featuring a session with a wonderful, very active and respected pianist and vocal coach in the Twin Cities.  Such an honor for me!

I really love photographing musicians and I love taking headshots.  These were a delight to do.  We met at my studio in Burnsville, MN and spent a lovely, relaxed afternoon together.

Headshots {Headshot Portrait Photographer | Minneapolis St. Paul, MN}

I had such a fantastic time with this woman right here.  She is the latest in my lucky streak of beautiful red-headed opera-singing mezzo-sopranos!  We met at my studio, and I was so happy with all the different looks we achieved.  She was so much fun!  We laughed a lot and the whole afternoon was really a delight.

Her hair and makeup were done by the ever-wonderful Sharon Davis, who works with me on many of my headshot sessions.  Thank you, Sharon!

A Headshot Session {Portrait Photographer | Minneapolis St. Paul}

This headshot session for a local opera singer was so much fun.  Our goal was variety, and I think we achieved it!  I really like providing my headshot clients with as many looks as possible.  (I also like providing them with wine and smoked gouda.)  These were all done at my studio, in both natural and studio light, and then we also stepped out back for some outdoor shots at sunset.  (In the snow.  That is still a foot deep at the end of March.)

The Year in Review. {Twin Cities, Minnesota | Portrait Photographer}

I love re-capping an old year at the start of a new one.  So here are just a few of my favorite images from 2012, along with my gratitude to all the wonderful, joyful, fun people in these photos.  I am more thankful than I can say to every one of you for bringing something so very special your sessions - yourselves.

Happy New Year!

A Beautiful Green-Eyed Mezzo-Soprano. {Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN | Portrait Photographer}

This headshot session was so much fun.  Opera singers are always enjoyable to work with, I've found.  I laughed so much with this very talented mezzo-soprano (you should hear her sing - really, you should!).  And, in case you are wondering, that is the real color of her eyes.  Amazing, aren't they?

Composed. {Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota | Portrait Photographer}

I was so excited when the wonderful contemporary classical composer Kirsten Broberg contacted me to provide her with some new headshots.  Her music is ethereal, intimate, mysterious and evocative of nature, and together we came up with a concept for her photographs that went beyond traditional headshots (though we did some of those, too) and reflected the qualities in her music and in her as a person.  We had an amazing time together and I think we created some beautiful images for her (look for them soon on her website!).

Soprano. {Twin Cities, Minnesota | Portrait and Headshot Photographer}

I love photographing opera singers.  They are the most radiant people.  This downtown Minneapolis session with a beautiful soprano was no exception.   We had the most wonderful, relaxed time, as you can see for yourself:

A Girl and a Guitar. {Minnesota | Portrait Photographer}

There is nothing like the love of a girl for her guitar.
 And there is nothing like an al fresco serenade from a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice.
 This little guy kept following her wherever she went.  Even the grasshoppers know good music when they hear it.
